My Approach
My work is based on establishing trust, collaborating deeply, creating conditions for courage, and communicating candidly.
I believe that the most powerful leadership comes from the ability to access our own wisdom, reveal our own truths, and connect to our own healing.
What we learn from our bodies — and not just our minds — is indispensable to our leadership. These times require that we employ all our ways of knowing as we grow towards a more just and whole world.
As someone with a background in poetry, theater, dance, and meditation, I invite clients to use metaphor, writing, and embodied practice in our work together. I also draw on skills I learned through training and experience in dialogue facilitation, Theater of the Oppressed, facilitation for racial justice, grassroots organizing, and a variety of in-depth leadership development programs.
In my work with clients, I start with a phone call and a written assessment to clarify your core needs and goals; these range from personal growth and career development for individuals to team-building, decision-making, and conflict resolution for groups. Then, I guide clients in the creation of a focused but flexible work plan that sets out a course for progress towards your North Star. Depending on the project, our work together may last a few weeks or multiple months.
I am deeply inspired by Emergent Strategy and the work of adrienne maree brown, who writes:
Emergence emphasizes critical connections over critical mass, building authentic relationships, listening with all the senses of the body and the mind.
I’m also guided by the Work that Reconnects, which reframes our pain for the world as evidence of our mutual belonging and hence our power to take action on behalf of life.
